Highway
and Structures Design
TPD staff
members have worked on over 300 highway design projects for state
(DOT), municipal, and private clients. Highway design projects involve
a variety of plans including construction plans, cross sections, construction
details, driveway profiles, pavement marking and signing plans, tabulation
sheets, special provisions and specifications, cost estimate, and traffic
control plans.
TPD’s Structures Design Team includes two licensed professional
engineers and a senior CAD manager with 15 years experience, all of whom
have worked together on structure design projects as a team for over 5
years. Their individual experience includes major structure projects for
PennDOT Districts 8-0, 6-0, 5-0, and 3-0.
Transportation
Planning / Traffic Studies
TPD has
completed over a dozen Project Needs, Congestion Mitigation System (CMS)
Studies, and Safety and Mobility Initiative (SAMI) Studies for PennDOT
and regional planning agencies including the PA 72 Needs and Feasibility
Study (www.pa72.com) in Lancaster County,
PA and the Kennett Area
Regional Study, Chester County, PA.
TPD’s quality
studies and meeting expertise have assisted in responsible transportation
planning and obtaining timely approvals for over 2000 studies for private,
municipal, and state clients. TPD’s President, Kevin Johnson, P.E., has
established a reputation as a leading expert in Transportation Planning
throughout his 20-year career; while John Hendricks (with TPD since 1997),
brings his 30 years of PennDOT experience to bear on some of TPD’s most
difficult projects.

HOP
Design and Review
For
an unprecedented third consecutive term, TPD is the Prime Consultant to
PennDOT on our third 30-month long $1 million contract to provide Highway
Occupancy Permit (HOP) review assistance in District 6-0 (Greater Philadelphia
Region). TPD is Prime Consultant on a similar review assistance contract
in District 8-0 (Greater Harrisburg Region). As a result of this experience,
TPD staff have established a reputation as the experts in the area of
HOP design and review. TPD’s thorough knowledge of PennDOT’s personnel,
priorities, and practices with regard to HOP applications enables us to
prepare plans that easily meet the Department’s expectations.
As
part if the PennDOT District 8-0 HOP contract, TPD has prepared a PowerPoint
Presentation regarding HOP procedures and design on behalf of the District,
which has been presented to over 100 engineering consultants.
Municipal
Services
One of the
greatest advantages we bring to our municipal clients is our thorough
understanding of what it takes to complete a study/design review. Not
only has TPD completed over 160 reviews for twelve municipalities over
the past twelve years, but the firm has also been responsible for the
completion of eight township-wide or Impact Fee studies and over a dozen
corridor studies.
TPD is uniquely qualified based on our comprehensive approach that accounts
for operational, environmental, structural, economic, and social aspects
of transportation planning and design projects. Through our daily involvement
with municipal and private clients’ transportation projects, our project
managers have become accustomed to a high level of interaction and close
coordination with PennDOT, municipal officials, the public, and the media.
Environmental
Services
TPD’s Environmental
Services Team is capable of performing studies for a wide variety of environmental
projects ranging from simple noise studies to wetland delineations to
complex Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) projects. TPD personnel have
also completed environmental projects such as the Phase I Environmental
Site Assessment (ESA) study for TPD’s Schwenksville Area Corridor Study
and work on an EIS for the ongoing I-95 and New Jersey Turnpike Project.
